Our Planning Process

Step One: Introduction To Services (ITS) - This no cost or obligation meeting is used to determine if our skills match your needs and if we have a strong foundation on which to build a long-term relationship. If everything looks good, and all parties agree, you will sign a letter of engagement (Advisory Agreement) and proceed through the following steps of the financial planning process

Step Two: Data Gathering (DGM) - During this step we identify both your objective and subjective goals and desires to make the one life you have the best that it can be. We also gather all the relevent documents and information needed to accurately assess your current situation.

Step Three: Construction of Financial Plan - This step is typically done in a single or over several sessions depending on which service level you select.

  • In the first session, we work to understand where you are now, where you are heading, and how to get back on track. The sections of your financial plan that are constructed during this session are, Goals, Financial Statements, and Cash Flow Analysis.
  • In the next session, we design an investment strategy that best fits your financial plan. At this time we review our Portfolio Design Methodology.
  • The next session is dedicated to developing your Legacy Plan. During this time, we discuss What is Legacy, The Four Pillars of a Legacy, Your Legacy Plan, Organizing Your Records, and Setting up a Family Meeting.
  • The final session in contructing your financial plan focuses on protecting your family and your wealth from convalescent costs, lawsuits and other risks.

Over the past three decades, we have learned that when clients immerse themselves in the experience by participating in the construction of their own financial plan, their understanding and appreciation increases dramatically making the whole process much more valuable to them.

Step Four: Plan Review Meeting (PRM) - After spending so much time focused on the details of your financial plan and looking at all of the "trees," it is very helpful to step back and review the entire "forest." During this step, we review where we were and the progress we have made to date in the process. We also use this meeting to transition to the most important step in the financial planning process - that of monitoring.

Step Five: Continuous and Regular Advisory Services - Status reports are provided Quarterly. These reports measure the progress towards the attainment and or protection of your core goals. By measuring progress every 90 days, we are able to reduce "surprises" and make adjustments ahead of any problems that may arise.

Annual Review - An updated composite of the financial plan reflecting any changes, modifications, and progress.

Portfolio Recommendations - as needed throughout the year.

By design, Van Der Noord Financial Advisors, Inc. communicates with our clients over 20 times a year. Our goal is to make EVERY client feel like our ONLY client.
